Terrazzo trend back in business!

The terrazzo cover is experiencing a renaissance, so we've put together a couple of inspiring personal favorites, from classic looks to completely rethought designs!

But what is terrazzo?

The term comes from the Italian word terrazza - terasz. Cold cladding was also popular in ancient Rome and later in Renaissance Italy. The simplicity of the technique is great: in the past, various pieces of recycled granite, marble or underlay ceramic are broken into mortar, now concrete & epoxy resin. These tiny shards take care of the special overall effect! The quality, hardness and durability of the original terrazzo rival those of marble. Excellent thermal conductivity, suitable for underfloor heating, as an outdoor, indoor covering, work surface - be it a terrace or a water block! Modern stoneware production allows us to dream of this special material over and over again in countless variations. Italian and Spanish cladding designers have not been idle: there are many innovative, colorful or sometimes homogeneous shades!

Why is it a good choice?

Because it is a matter of infinitely variable material, form and color combinations alike! Shards can be made of marble, quartz, glass or even metal. We’ve talked about how durable it is, which means low maintenance costs. An outdoor room covered with terrazzo will need to be maintained on average every 100 years. It's more serious than a plain metlaki, isn't it? Plus it’s made from natural, recycled materials, which is why it’s a friendly green solution. Easy to clean: smooth water vapor or a coarser brush, nothing else you need to keep it clean! And you can start admiring it! Incidentally, not only has it become fashionable as a cover, but more and more pieces of furniture are being made from terrazzo!
